A subdomain is a web address, that is under a main, or a root domain name. An illustration is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every single subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. aside from employing the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be totally independent and even hosted by a separate provider. Using a subdomain can be extremely practical if you wish to have different websites which are connected in some way. For example, you could have an online store under the main domain as well as a forum under a subdomain in order to offer means for your customers to ask questions or share opinions about your products. The advantage of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the sites are going to be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will allow you to create hundreds of subdomains for any domain name hosted within your account without any hassle. Assuming that the main domain address is added, it will take 2 mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using quick access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the total number of subdomains which you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.
